Job Title: Community Support Associate

Location: Lower Manhattan, NY

Compensation: $18.00 per hour

Schedule: Mornings

Position Summary:

We are seeking a committed and compassionate individual to serve as a Community Support Associate, providing essential case management and supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges. The role is based in a supportive shelter environment located in Lower Manhattan.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver direct case management to a diverse caseload of adults with mental health needs.

Assist clients in accessing public benefits and making referrals to appropriate treatment programs.

Support clients in developing and practicing independent living skills, including hygiene, nutrition, budgeting, and transportation.

Provide advocacy and escort clients to appointments related to entitlements, medical care, or housing.

Facilitate weekly psychoeducational groups focused on wellness, coping skills, and community integration.

Maintain thorough documentation including progress notes, group notes, and monthly statistical reporting.

Participate actively in interdisciplinary case conferences, clinical team meetings, and staff trainings.

Respond to emergencies and provide basic first aid/CPR as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the program.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience working in shelter, mental health, or social services settings preferred.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage a challenging caseload and respond effectively in crisis situations.

Basic computer literacy and ability to maintain accurate records.

CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).Company Description
