Red Hat Linux System Engineer / Linux Infrastructure Engineer / Linux Engineer / Linux Devops Engineer
(Split role 60-70% system engineering/administration and 30-40% Devops)
We’re looking for a Systems Engineer to join as a member of the IT Enterprise Engineering team, you will work with other Systems and Software Engineers to support our IT Enterprise Infrastructure and services. You’ll support the provisioning, maintenance, and improvement of systems and services leveraged across the company. You’ll collaborate with the IT Enterprise Engineering team to engineer solutions for Snap.
This role will mainly concentrate on the needs of the Vancouver, WA office and local team. They will work on the ongoing hardware upgrades and services migration to new systems while supporting the local infrastructure and community.
What you’ll do:
Manage a network of physical and virtual systems.
Monitor and ensure all systems and servers are routinely patched, backed up, and operating at peak performance.
Support EDA engineering applications from Cadence and Mentor Graphics.
Ensure compliance of local information system policies according to the Snap standards
Provide support to the local user community. Determine needs and evaluate new technologies.
Troubleshoot issues related to the local infrastructure.
Analyze and document the current legacy environment and services, and document services and tools which can be operationalized.
Plan, collaborate, communicate and execute on service migrations to the new infrastructure.
Collaborate with leadership, engineers, and customers to architect new solutions for On-Premise and IaaS providers (AWS/GCP)
Collaborate with Systems Administrators to design, develop, and scope solutions for use with Identity Access Management tools
Contribute to automation efforts by leveraging configuration management, images, and templates across Windows and Linux environments
Participate in efforts to increase monitoring and logging across the server fleet.
Work with other IT partner teams to ensure a quality setup for all team members, tools, and pipelines
Leverage both commercial and open source tools/software to drive impact for the business while finding creative ways to reduce spend
Evaluate new technologies and work with leadership to prioritize deployment in alignment with business requirements
Communicate project timelines, service dependencies, resource constraints, and progress with key stakeholders timely and effectively
Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Extensive Linux systems administration and deployment experience in a high demand engineering environment. Comprehensive experience is required, encompassing all aspects of systems management, hardware, virtualization, identity management/authentication, storage and networking. 5+ Years of experience, preferably with Red Hat and Ubuntu.
Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare/vCenter
Experience with Storage Area Networks (SAN).
Technical certifications such as Red Hat, MCP, MCSE or equivalent work experience.
2+ Years of experience with current Windows Server versions, Active Directory administration, DNS, DHCP, Distributed File Services, Print Services, Group Policy Management, and FSMO roles.
Experience with microservices such as Kubernetes and container technologies
