Position Summary
The Controls Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and documenting electrical and control systems onsite. This role involves hands-on work with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and electrical components, as well as mentoring junior technicians and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and resolve control-level issues using Allen Bradley PLCs (CompactLogix, ControlLogix) and PanelView HMIs.
Develop and implement ladder logic changes using Rockwell RSLogix IDEs (RSLogix5000 preferred).
Troubleshoot electrical systems ranging from 24VDC to 480VAC.
Perform root cause analysis and document incidents and system changes.
Monitor system operations using SCADA and other diagnostic tools.
Maintain and update control system documentation and configurations.
Mentor and guide technicians, providing feedback to enhance performance.
Participate in on-call rotation and perform other maintenance tasks as needed.
Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and training requirements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
Minimum 1 year of experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and PanelView HMI troubleshooting.
At least 1 year of experience in electrical troubleshooting and reading schematics.
Proficiency with control components such as relays, sensors, motor starters, solenoids, servo drives, and frequency inverters.
Familiarity with non-AB control systems (e.g., Mitsubishi, Omron, Siemens) is a plus.
Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
Experience with SCADA systems and understanding of KPIs.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
