A fast-growing biotech startup is seeking a Lead Firmware Engineer to guide the firmware development behind their next-generation wearable health technology.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building reliable, real-time software that enables accurate data collection and seamless wireless communication from cutting-edge health sensors.
Responsibilities:
Architect, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for low-power, compact health monitoring devices
Bridge the gap between sensor hardware and digital systems through efficient, robust embedded code
Implement BLE and other wireless protocols for secure, real-time data transmission
Debug hardware/software interactions using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and test automation
Optimize system performance for power consumption, stability, and signal fidelity
Collaborate with hardware, software, and data teams to take products from prototype to production
Qualifications:
7+ years designing and deploying embedded systems in battery-powered environments
Proficient in C/C++ for low-level firmware; Python scripting experience for automation/testing
Deep understanding of embedded communication protocols: SPI, I2C, UART, BLE
Strong skills in firmware-hardware bring-up and low-level debugging
Familiarity with wearable tech, wireless communication, and real-time data processing
Experience working in regulated or health-tech environments is a plus
