Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for an DevOps Engineer 4 in Chicago, IL. The work will be done onsite 1-3 days/week. The rest will be work from home. This is a long term contract. It can lead to permanent employment with our customer. Compensation is $80/hr W2 + full benefits, vision, dental, health insurance, 401K and holiday pay.

Job Description

Provides application and technical leadership in the development of detailed system specifications for major business/infrastructure and/or development, integration and implementation projects. Applies systems solutions to business/technical problems through customer interactions, and by aiding less experienced analysts in the design, programming, debugging, testing, and integration/implementation of complex, medium to large-sized automated information technology systems or infrastructure component implementation projects. Monitoring cloud environment to ensure no high or critical issues are impacting our users. Spinning up new resources (e.g. services, VMs) within cloud environments. Assisting developers with merging and releasing code to different development environments (e.g. QA, Staging, Prod, etc.) in multiple Azure regions. Investigating and debugging issues with development teams. This position reports to an IT Manager, as do other staff jobs in application systems and technical infrastructure sections. Responsibilities of the incumbents are across functional lines with individuals assigned in new program development and/or maintenance of existing mobile, web, cloud, server, and/or distributed computing systems.

Position s Contributions to Work Group:

As a DevOps Engineer you will contribute to design, development, testing and deployment of software systems and/or applications.

Competent to perform all programming, project management, and development assignments without close supervision; normally assigned the more complex aspects of systems work.

Works directly on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls.

Works independently on complex systems or infrastructure components that may be used by one or more applications or systems.

Drives application development focused around delivering business valuable features

Maintains high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits

Identifies and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team

Communicate with end users and internal customers to help direct development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness

Performs integrated testing and customer acceptance testing of components that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results.

Employee is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.

Typical task breakdown:

Support and administer developer tooling and SDLC infrastructure including GitHub, Azure DevOps, JFrog Artifactory, etc.

Engage with business personnel including project managers, products owners, and end-users as needed providing well-rounded contributions based on strong development and delivery expertise.

Consult with solution architects, developers, cloud engineers, security engineers and other team members to ensure a successful project delivery.

Contribute to and peer review various technical documents including CI/CD, release management pipelines, and application code as well as SDLC and development process documents.

Interaction with team:

DevOps Team consists of 13 currently and will be supporting a new project that has 60+ project members. This team also supports other established applications within the organization.

This team is cross-functional. Successful team members will be expected to think outside the box, learn new skills, etc., to support each other and the project.

Education & Experience Required:

Bachelor s degree with 8+ years experience

If No degree, they must have at least 12 years experience

Technical Skills

(Required)

IaC CI/CD with GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps Pipelines

Experience with Terraform

(Desired)

Experience with Entra, Azure, and Power Platform administration through portals, CLI, and CI/CD

Soft Skills

(Required)

someone who is comfortable in working in a R&D setting and take on admin tasks when needed.
