Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Medical Technologist to support comprehensive clinical laboratory operations within a federal healthcare setting. This role plays a critical part in diagnostic testing and analysis across multiple laboratory disciplines, contributing directly to high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform a broad range of laboratory procedures in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, serology, bacteriology, and immunohematology
Analyze patient specimens; identify and report abnormal results and critical values promptly
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and automated equipment
Conduct routine and specialized quality control, calibration, and validation procedures
Perform phlebotomy and sample collection when needed
Accurately document and verify test results in laboratory information systems
Ensure adherence to safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance standards
Maintain laboratory inventory and supplies
Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and provide clerical support as required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field from a NAACLS-accredited program
ASCP or AMT certification (required)
Active, unrestricted license to practice as a medical technologist in any U.S. state or territory
At least 1 year of relevant experience within the past 3 years
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association (or equivalent)
Familiarity with EHR systems such as VISTA/CPRS or Oracle Cerner preferred
Proficiency in English and competent in using computers and laboratory software
