DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction that adheres to research-based literacy practices and standards using a variety of teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs and styles of students
Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 literacy intervention services for students
Utilize data and assessments to determine and provide literacy supports for students
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
Engage in professional learning opportunities
Create a positive, inclusive, learning environment where all students feel supported
Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and evidence-based literacy interventions
Communicate effectively with students, parents, administrators, and colleagues regarding student progress
ESSENTIAL CORE CHARACTERISTICS:
NYS Certification in Literacy
Experience teaching elementary, Preferably grades K-4
Knowledge, skill, and confidence with NYS Next Generation ELA Learning Standards
Ability to implement highly effective curriculum, teaching, and assessment programs
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with all stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to motivate and instruct students
Understanding of how to appropriately place students for intervention
Demonstrated experience effectively using technology
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
A commitment to professional development and continuous learning
PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:
Successful teaching experience in the area of literacy
Evidence of student growth
A demonstrated record of professional learning
Prior professional learning in evidence-based literacy strategies and knowledge of Science of Reading research
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
SALARY: $20,520-$26,400
Per WTA Contract
