Position: Junior Academy Assistant Director

Scope
The Junior Academy Assistant Director is a full-time, year round position. The Assistant Director will be a dynamic individual with previous preschool experience. This position is under the general supervision of the Junior Academy Director and is to cooperate in a loyal and efficient manner. Responsibilities include overseeing Junior Academy Assistants, assisting the Junior Academy Director in curriculum development, meeting licensing requirements, managing and scheduling staff, enrolling students, scheduling activities and special events, maintaining adequate supplies, and program development.
Qualifications
The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:
A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit
A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school
Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for Christian Academy School System
Agreement and belief that The Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind
The ideal candidate shall possess:
Bachelor’s or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Ed, or Elementary Ed, or Director’s Credentials or a CDA preferred
3 + years as lead preschool teacher or qualified teaching experience in a preschool classroom environment
Self-motivated with ability to problem solve and make decisions independently
General computer literacy, including Google
Knowledge in Kentucky Licensing regulations
Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Operations:
Supervise day to day operations of Junior Academy: Supervise all children’s programs and ensure overall health/safety of the program
Actively promote the school, its philosophy and its mission
Attend school functions, Open Houses, and pertinent meetings
Assist with Junior Academy enrollment process
Collaborate with the Director to coordinate, plan, and implement chapel
Assist classroom teachers
Provide classroom behavioral support, including behavioral modification plans
Clearly and effectively communicate information to teachers and Director
Willingness to work a flexible schedule
Treat each child with dignity and respect
Serve as a substitute teacher when needed utilizing curriculum provide by the school
Participate in recommended training programs, workshops, courses, and other aspects of professional growth
Assist the Director with setting up and participating in the annual orientation, open house, programs, and other events sponsored by junior academy
Assist the children entering/exiting the building each day
Assist in serving lunches
Assist Director in maintaining staff to child ratios in all classrooms
Assist Director in ensuring all records are properly maintained
Assists Director in managing, conducting, and documenting staff meetings
Perform general office duties daily including reading mail, and email, making and receiving phone calls, filing documents, managing database systems, and assisting the Director in other office activities
Greet parents and visitors, answer questions, arrange meetings, lead tours, and perform other daily customer service tasks
Assist in overseeing the supply and food ordering
Assist staff in the supervision and guidance of Junior Academy children and deal with behavioral and discipline challenges
Assist Director in the review of potential child development issues; assist teachers in the identification of developmental issues in children; inform and counsel parents regarding these issues and refer parents to appropriate resources including mental health with social emotional issues
General support as needed and requested by the Director
Staff Management:
Oversees Junior Academy Assistants in a direct reporting relationship
Serve as the acting Director when required, including providing but not limited to managing staff, and overseeing programs activities
Assist Director in managing and scheduling assistant’s work schedule, including summer and vacation breaks
Assist Director in setting goals and conducting goals meetings, conducting walk through, and facilitating walk through discussion, conducting formal observations, and facilitates observation discussion, completing formal assessments, and conducting performance evaluations for Junior Academy Assistants
Assist Director in facilitating professional development workshops and seminars for staff
Assist Director in offering support during the interviewing/hiring staff
Assist Director in coordinate Teachers/staff scheduling classroom coverage
Outcomes:
Effective leadership, guidance and communication to the faculty and staff
Excellent academic, social, and emotional development for these young students as evidenced by readiness for kindergarten through informal assessments and observations.

Reporting Relationship
The Assistant Director will report to the campus Junior Academy Director.
