POSITION DETAILS

Summary:

The Middle School Building Principal serves as the instructional and administrative leader for students in grades 4 through 8. This role is responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment that promotes the growth and achievement of all students. The principal will lead and support teachers, manage school operations, and collaborate with families and community partners to ensure student success.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and monitor curriculum and instructional strategies aligned with district, state, and national standards.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement in teaching and learning through data-driven decision-making and professional development.

Evaluate instructional effectiveness and lead the implementation of evidence-based practices.

Conduct regular classroom observations and provide feedback to improve instruction.

Uphold high standards for student behavior, attendance, and engagement through restorative practices and student-centered discipline policies.

Evaluate and retain high-quality support staff.

Oversee daily operations, including budgeting, scheduling, facilities management, and safety protocols.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Manage resources efficiently to maximize student learning outcomes.

Effectively and consistently communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and the community.

Participate in district-wide professional development

Perform other duties consistent within the scope of the position

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environment:

Office, school environment.

Regular interruptions.

Occasional exposure to considerable noise

Physical Demands:

Ability to physically perform tasks associated with the job description including, but not limited to abilities to stoop, bend, sit, stand, stretch, grasp, push, pull, walk, lift up to 25 lbs.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer with intermittent periods standing or walking.

Must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently or use prosthetics that will enable to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education & Experience:

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

A valid MI administrator certificate.

Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience, preferably in a middle childhood setting

Preferred Education & Experience:

Prior administrative or leadership experience preferred

Required Skills & Abilities:

Proficient in a variety of current technologies and office software (i.e.,Infinite Campus, Clever, Google Suite, etc.).

Efficient and accurate word processing and keyboarding skills.

Ability to keep records and compile reports while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

Ability to relate to students with respect, compassion, tact, and understanding.

Ability to establish effective rapport with students and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, teachers, parents, and other staff members.

Knowledge of the academic needs of students.

High moral character, integrity, and strong interpersonal communication skills

Must be able to read, write, and speak English

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
