Building Engineer Pay Rate and Hours:
$23/hr-$28/hr depending on experience
5 pm to 9 pm, Friday & 9 am to 5 pm, every other Sunday
Building Engineer Job Summary:
Under general supervision, responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a variety of mechanical and electrical systems, including heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and power-generating equipment. Oversee electrical, fire suppression, and plumbing systems. Ensures the safe, correct, and efficient functioning of all equipment, machinery, and systems within the museum during the shift, while upholding policies and standards related to the care and maintenance of both historic and non-historic
Building Engineer Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Monitor the mechanical equipment and electrical systems through the Building Management System (BMS) or manually as needed, ensuring proper operation of all equipment, all boilers, chillers, and auxiliary systems, air handlers, cooling tower, generator, DX units, pumps, controls, valves, between others in the main and auxiliary buildings
Support, monitor, and troubleshoot temporary electrical installations during events and programs
Check operating equipment in each mechanical area daily and log operating parameters, note safety discrepancies, and make minor adjustments and repairs as needed. Report actions taken to the Lead Building Engineer.
Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment as directed
Manage shutdown and startup processes and standby units as required to meet normal and emergency requirements.
Report emergency requirements to the Lead Engineer and Security as appropriate
Identify safety hazards and take appropriate actions to protect personnel and visitors.
Perform minor repairs to electrical and plumbing equipment. Notify Lead Engineer if an outside contractor is recommended.
Maintain prompt and reliable attendance in order to successfully perform the duties of the job.
Building Engineer Basic Requirements:
3 to 5 years of experience with mechanical equipment to include chillers, boilers, pumps, and air handlers.
Advanced knowledge and skill in operating and repairing standard facility systems, including mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC, water, and plumbing systems.
Intermediate knowledge of standard procedures for responding to emergency situations involving malfunctions of facility systems or required shutdowns due to safety and security issues.
Must be able to lift, carry, and push 60 lbs.
Building Engineer Additional Requirements:
First-class limited Engineers license.
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
