Job Description
GateSource HR is collaborating with a Key partner to hire a Project Implementation Engineer to lead the deployment of advanced radio communication systems tailored to meet specific client requirements. This position involves hands-on work with system integration, staging, field implementation, system optimization, technical documentation, and troubleshooting. These systems typically incorporate technologies such as APCO Project 25, RF base stations and repeaters, microwave backhaul, IP-based infrastructure, wireless data, 911 dispatch platforms, interoperability modules, and custom subsystems.
This role is instrumental in delivering mission-critical solutions for sectors such as public safety, utilities, education, transportation, and enterprise operations, enabling them to communicate effectively and serve their communities.
Key Responsibilities
Execute the on-site deployment, staging, and integration of complex RF communication systems.
Perform optimization, diagnostics, and system troubleshooting as needed.
Maintain and update technical documentation throughout the lifecycle of each project.
Collaborate cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure project success.
Travel to client sites (up to 60%) to fulfill deployment and support needs.
Present technical information clearly to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with RF and/or IP network system implementation and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with enterprise-level platforms such as Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL, Linux, VMware, and HyperV.
Working knowledge of network diagnostic tools and protocols (e.g., SSH, FTP, packet analyzers, Cisco/Linux CLI).
Proficiency with productivity and technical documentation software including Microsoft Office Suite and Visio.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to pass standard pre-employment background and drug screening.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, especially when translating technical information to non-technical audiences.
Preferred Experience & Certifications
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Cisco, CompTIA, Juniper, Nokia).
Experience with manufacturers and technologies such as Cisco, Aviat, Motorola, Kenwood, L3Harris, Tait, and MNI.
Previous work with digital voice and radio communications systems.
Familiarity with RF, microwave, and fiber optic technologies.
