Position Summary

The QC Analyst will be responsible for conducting laboratory testing, monitoring, and quality assurance activities related to raw materials, in-process production, and finished products. This role requires a strong foundation in chemistry, with a focus on analytical techniques and instrumentation. The QC Analyst will work with a variety of analytical instruments. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and a commitment to safety and quality.

This position requires working with hazardous chemicals and gases, including hydrogen sulfide (H2S).

Position Description

Responsibilities

Perform routine and non-routine chemical and physical analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with product specifications and regulatory requirements.

Assist with laboratory database maintenance and issuance of lot numbers to ensure unique lot identification; maintains all databases in an accurate and timely manner

Coordinates receiving and quality testing of incoming samples

Defines and maintains product sample inventory, sends out samples

Coordinates blending for shipping and sample stock.

Responsible for monitoring and maintaining lab inventories, including finished lot composite retains

Operate, maintain and calibrate analytical instruments

Troubleshoot and resolve issues with analytical instruments, including calibration and performance verification.

Analyze and interpret test results, prepare high-quality reports, graphs, and tables to communicate findings clearly and accurately.

Maintain up-to-date records of laboratory tests,, and results in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with production and R&D teams to optimize processes and improve product quality.

Adhere to all safety protocols and industry best practices when handling all chemicals and gases and working with laboratory equipment.

Support the development and validation of new testing methods and procedures as needed.

Perform periodic checks on laboratory equipment to ensure proper calibration and maintenance.

Participate in internal audits, quality control meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Work variable 12-hour shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by production demands.

Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Requirements:

Knowledge, skills and abilities

Must be willing and able to work with hazardous chemicals/compounds/gases, including acids, solvents, and other reagents commonly used in laboratory testing.

Proficient at running and maintaining laboratory instrumentation.

Ability to learn and appropriately apply new concepts quickly

Must be a reliable team member, consistently adhering to work schedules and following through on commitments.

Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, including the ability to generate high-quality reports, graphs, and tables.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve instrument-related issues and optimize test procedures.

Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of laboratory testing, reporting, and record-keeping.

Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks and priorities.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical data in a clear and concise manner.

Knowledge of safety protocols, particularly in handling hazardous chemicals and gases, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Maintain good lab housekeeping

Education and experience

Education: Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry,, or other relevant, science – related field. Academic or industrial laboratory experience required.

Experience: 2-5 years manufacturing QA/QC laboratory experience preferred

Experience in an industrial laboratory setting or equivalent academic research is highly preferred.

Physical Requirements

Must be willing and able to work with hazardous chemicals and gases, including acids, solvents, and other reagents commonly used in laboratory testing.

Must be able to lift, move and carry heavy sample buckets, containers, and equipment (up to 50 lbs).

Occasional climbing of stairs or ladders may be required.

Ability to stand for long periods and perform tasks at laboratory workstations.

Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including lab coats, gloves, safety glasses, respirators, and hearing protection as needed.

Exposure to chemicals and fumes may occur, so adherence to safety guidelines and use of required PPE is essential.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment while maintaining a focus on quality and safety.

Work in varying environmental conditions, including occasional exposure to heat, humidity, and noise in an industrial setting.

Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by production schedules.
