Job Description

Metal Fabricator, Brake and Shear Operator

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum one year experience

- In-depth understanding of the parts of a press brake and how the machine works

- Ability to remain upright and perform repetitive movements throughout most of a work shift

- Arithmetic skills to perform measurements and calculate settings

- Ability to move heavy or large pieces of sheet metal from one place to another

- Observation skills to monitor the pressing process and inspect metal after pressing

- Knowledge of health and safety regulations for the manufacturing industry

- Familiarity with blueprints and the terminology used in technical specification sheets

- Forklift certification helpful but not required, training can be provided

- Be in good physical health, have manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude, and ability to load and unload material by hand from pallet to machine

- Pass a pre-employment drug screen

- Be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Study blueprints and specification sheets to understand technical requirements

- Set a computer-controlled press brake to project specifications

- Use forklift to load and unload material safely and without damage (if certified)

- Ensure proper positioning and alignment of metal inside the press brake

- Calculate material stretch out, shear material, and cut amount needed for part

- Monitor the pressing process

- Measure and inspect the finished sheet metal to ensure it matches specifications

- Troubleshoot and address problems that arise during the pressing process

- Palletize, wrap, and label material for shipment

- Change tooling, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on the press brake

- Assist in inventory control, maintain, handle, and move physical inventory within the warehouse

- Comply with all health and safety standards and procedures

- Assist with additional tasks including cleaning, organization, trash collection, etc.

- Excellent attendance

Wages to be discussed during the interview. This is a full-time position. Employees and their qualified dependents are eligible for benefits after 60 days of employment.
