Job Description
Thomas P. Carney, Inc. is seeking a skilled Assistant Project Manager with experience in water and wastewater facilities to join our team. This is a key role supporting senior leadership in delivering complex construction projects, with a focus on water and wastewater facilities, on time and within budget.
Applicant should be a motivated, career-minded individual with 8–10 years of commercial construction experience or equivalent. You’ll assist in managing day-to-day project operations, reviewing estimates, preparing budgets, and document management. A strong attention to detail, work ethic, and problem-solving mindset are essential.
You’ll be trusted to support multiple facets of project execution while working closely with project managers, field supervision, subcontractors, and clients. This is a great opportunity to grow with a reputable, long-standing company that values integrity, technical skill, and hard work.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $85,000 to $100,000 (depending on experience)

Support the senior project manager with the execution of construction projects
Assist in reviewing project estimates and preparing job budgets
Participate in job cost tracking and reporting
Maintain and update project schedules
Prepare and manage change orders
Help coordinate subcontractors and suppliers
Attend project meetings and assist with documentation
Support billing processes and monthly progress submissions
Contribute to compliance reporting and safety documentation
Engage in bid preparation and value engineering effortsQualifications:
8–10 years of experience in commercial construction (public infrastructure a plus)
Experience with water/wastewater projects strongly preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating/project management software
Exceptional attention to detail — no mistakes, even under pressure
Strong communication, coordination, and time management skills
Proven ability to solve problems and work independently
Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field is a plus, but not requiredAbout Company
