Job Description
Global food manufacturer is currently in search of an experienced Controls Engineer to join its team within its flagship, highly automated food manufacturing facility in Memphis, TN. This position will have HEAVY interface with the maintenance team, so candidates with strong industrial maintenance experience will be given top consideration.
The Controls Engineer will play a key role supporting the maintenance team while also working closely with plant engineering on capital projects. This position will focus heavily on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, PLC programming, and robot maintenance. The Controls Engineer will also assist in training maintenance personnel, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring high performance across automated packaging and processing systems.
Key requirements to be considered for this opportunity:
You must have a BS degree in Electrical Engineering or at least five (5) years of verifiable experience in controls programming and industrial maintenance
You must have strong experience troubleshooting and maintaining industrial electrical/electronic and mechanical systems
You must have hands-on expertise in PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen Bradley, Rockwell Automation, TI, Siemens, Wonderware)
You must have experience with robotic systems, including programming and maintenance (Kuka, Motoman preferred)
You must be able to read and create electrical and mechanical schematics and diagrams
You should have prior experience working in or supporting a unionized manufacturing environment
You should be familiar with material handling systems, pneumatic conveying, and processing equipment such as cookers, steamers, and dryers
You should have experience with automated packaging systems (film packaging, carton packaging, case packing, and palletizing both traditional and robotic)
Food manufacturing experience and familiarity with GMPs are a strong plus
Certification in Rockwell Automation and/or Wonderware training is a plus
You should have experience using SAP and Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of TPM and Lean Manufacturing principles is beneficial
Strong communication skills and the ability to train and mentor others are essential
