TITLE: Operations Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Operations

EXEPMTION STATUS: Exempt

SUPERVISED BY: Operations Manager

SUMMARY:

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision of the EMS field operations; He/she assures adequate staffing levels

are maintained, first responds to request for services as needed, handles customer service issues, and serves as the MAAS liaison

with public responding agencies and personnel on scene of incidents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises day-to-day field operation employees

Ensures field employees have the required equipment to perform the essential functions of their assigned duties.

Serves as liaison for field staff to other departments. (i.e., Training/QA, Fleet Services, Payroll, Safety & Risk Management, Human

Resources, Communications)

Assist Operations Manager in coordinating with Fleet Services to ensure vehicles meet preventative maintenance schedules at

required intervals

Prepares reports involving mechanical breakdowns, accident investigation, exposures, daily shift activities, and other incidents that

may occur.

Ensures assigned employees consistently adhere to MAAS policies, procedures, guidelines, directives and standards. Initiates

coach and counseling and other disciplinary actions as appropriate.

Evaluates the performance of employees assigned to him/her, maintains attendance records and ensures employees maintain

required certifications.

Ensures all vehicles placed in-service comply with required laws, rules and license regulations as outlined by the State of Georgia

and other authorized agencies.

In conjunction with the Communications Supervisor, monitors the overall deployment and efficiency of the established system.

Shall perform the duties outlined in the EMT/ Paramedic Job Description as required

Performs all of the above functions in accordance with established financial and operational plans and goals pertaining to cost

effectiveness and efficient management.

Shall respond to the scene when requested by crews and shall assume MAAS medical command and coordinate ambulance

transport in the event of a Mass Casualty or Hazardous Material Incident.

Prompt and regular attendance at work.

Performs other such duties as may be required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED

Minimum of 3 year of experience as a field Paramedic (Post-Licensure CICP skill preferred or willing to obtain at next class)

Paramedic Certification by the State of Georgia

Valid State of Georgia Drivers License

BCLS/ACLS/PALS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

Knowledge of methods and techniques for providing on-site emergency medical service

Knowledge of local area EMS and public safety structure

Knowledge of local, Federal and State insurance billing guidelines for ambulance services.

Demonstrated ability to read English and understand medical terminology

Demonstrated ability to write reports, business correspondence, and complete forms.

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, superiors, customers and other

public service agency personnel.

Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions regarding patient care, company operations and

other customer service issues.

Demonstrated ability to use a computer

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

Employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.

Employee frequently is required to stand and walk.

Employee is required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.

Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 180 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 300 pounds with assistance

from others.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception,

and ability to adjust focus.

Employee must be able to transfer a patient in a stair chair between floors while ascending or descending stairs with assistance of

a partner.

Employee must be able to transfer medical bags and equipment to and from ambulance.

Employee must be able to transfer a patient on a stretcher from ground to ambulance.

Employee must be able to push/pull stretcher release handle

Employee must be able to grip undercarriage release handle on stretcher requiring bilateral coupling forces up to 35lbs to raise

and lower the stretcher.

Employee must ascend and descend stairs often multiple levels/stories.

Employee must be able to climb into out of an ambulance multiple times.

Employee must access and work on patients in an ambulance and tolerate heights up to 68”.

Employee must be able to tolerate various temperatures and weather conditions.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Due to the nature of EMS working conditions employee may be exposed to inclement weather, potential hazardous conditions,

diseases and other illnesses. Frequent interruptions, work pressure and irregularities in work schedule are expected. Employee is

continuously faced with a number of projects considered to be high priority. Employee is subject to continually changing deadlines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to travel and attend both regular and unscheduled

meetings, some of which take place outside of regular working hours
