Overview

Billee Technologies is turning raw utility-billing data into actionable intelligence and regulatory peace of mind. As our first dedicated Data Engineer, you will design and launch a greenfield data platform—help in determining the stack, laying the pipelines, and codifying best practices from day one. Working side-by-side with our Principal Engineer, you’ll move data from ingestion to AI-ready feature stores, powering the next wave of compliance analytics and customer-facing insights.

Core Responsibilities

Build from zero: Stand up data lake/warehouse and orchestrators that scale with our growth.

Write first-class pipelines: Transform source data into analytics-ready assets with dbt and Python.

Ship AI-ready data: Create feature pipelines and vector stores that feed compliance-driven LLM agents.

Automate reliability: Add testing, monitoring, and alerting so data issues surface before customers notice.

Drive collaboration: Translate business questions into data solutions, guiding engineers and analysts alike.

Requirements

Strong Python & SQL skills.

4+ yrs data-platform engineering (bonus if you’ve built from scratch).

Experience with data orchestration tooling (Apache Airflow or Dagster).

Data modeling expertise (w/ DBT or Spark) (bonus for dimensional modeling experience).

Comfort analyzing data directly (pandas, scikit-learn or similar).

Experience with Azure a bonusIdeal Candidate

Mentor & Learner – Shares knowledge generously, welcomes peer reviews, and stays curious about emerging tools (from Dagster releases to the latest in RAG/LLM practices).

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000
