QA NDT Inspector - Shipyard (VT Level II )

Pay:

Local: $36/hr

Non-Local: $28/hr + $160 per diem

Project Duration: Long-term (12+ months)

Job Overview:

We’re currently hiring a skilled and detail-oriented QA NDT Inspector to support ship repair operations at NAS Mayport. This role involves overseeing shipboard welding inspections, performing in-process and final quality audits, and supporting safety initiatives for a long-term, high-profile government contract.

Responsibilities:

Perform in-process and final inspections on naval vessels and shipboard systems

Conduct NDT inspections (VT and PT) and maintain detailed OQE records

Oversee and update Test and Inspection Plans (TIP) per NAVSEA standards

Perform audits and safety oversight of daily field operations

Manage welder certifications and ensure compliance with NAVSEA and MIL-STD protocols

Coordinate with Customer QA and Safety reps for inspections and acceptance

Requirements:

5–7 years of QA/NDT inspection experience in a naval or shipyard environment

VT Level II and PT (Liquid Penetrant) certifications – Required

Proficient with NAVSEA Standard Items, MIL-STD-2035, 1689, 22D, NSTP-278, NSTP-248, and NSTP-271

Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specs

Strong communication and organizational skills

Must be eligible for a DBIDS badge for NAS Mayport access

Preferred Experience:

Background in shipbuilding, marine repair, or government contracting

Experience managing TIPs and quality control documentation

Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook for reporting
