JOB SUMMARY:
Assists the Controller with directing and coordinating the business services functions and procedures of the College. Assists in ensuring compliance with all applicable university, state and federal regulations and policies. Reporting to the Controller of Finance and Business Affairs, the Assistant Controller is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of the General Accounting office.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Coordinates and manages the month-end and fiscal year-end close process.Reviews and approves certain bank reconciliations.Reviews and approves general ledger account reconciliations, including fixed assets.Reviews and approves drawdowns, travel reimbursements, and certain journal entries.Prepares select bank reconciliations.Prepares and enters select journal entries.Provides guidance on accounting transactions, including journal entry preparation, selecting proper account string elements, and entering and uploading transactions.Prepares various reports and schedules for internal and external stakeholders, including external audit preparation.Assists with monitoring of accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and organizational budgets.Maintains chart of accounts.Assists with projects, studies and analyses, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor s degree in Accounting required; a Master s degree and/or CPA preferred.Seven years of progressive accounting experience required. Accounting experience in higher education industry with knowledge of GASB regulations preferred.Supervisory experience preferred.Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.In-depth working knowledge of computerized accounting systems (Banner experience a plus) and Microsoft office suite.Demonstrated track record as a team player.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.No or very limited physical effort required.No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
