Network Security Engineer – Cisco Focus Location: Plano, TX – 100% Onsite - You must work onsite daily.

Position Summary: Odyssey is partnering with a local, Plano-based firm to hire a Senior Network Security Engineer with deep expertise in Cisco-based security technologies.

This role involves the design, implementation, and ongoing support of advanced network security solutions for enterprise clients.

The ideal candidate thrives in customer-facing environments, has strong project delivery experience, and stays ahead of evolving cybersecurity threats.

Key Responsibilities: Project Implementation & ArchitectureDesign and deploy enterprise-grade Cisco security solutions (including secure firewalls, orchestration platforms, MFA tools, and breach defense technologies).Lead customer engagements from planning through implementation, including kickoff meetings and technical reviews.Develop detailed architectural documentation and implementation plans.Oversee migrations from legacy systems to updated Cisco security infrastructure.Configure policies, interfaces, and advanced features within Cisco security environments.Perform solution testing, validation, and provide post-implementation knowledge transfer.Operational Support & OptimizationTravel to client sites for implementation projects (approximately 20%). Continuous Learning & CollaborationStay informed on the latest Cisco security advancements and industry trends.Maintain and renew relevant certifications.

Required Skills & Experience:Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in network security engineering with a strong Cisco focusCertifications Required:CCNP SecurityCisco Certified Specialist – Security CorePlus at least one of the following:Cisco Certified Specialist – FirewallCisco Certified Specialist – Identity ManagementExpert-level knowledge of Cisco Secure Firewall platforms and Threat DefenseProficiency with Cisco Defense OrchestratorHands-on experience with Cisco Duo and multi-factor authentication solutionsFamiliarity with Cisco’s Breach Protection Security SuiteAdvanced networking knowledge: routing, switching, VPN, NATProficient in packet analysis and troubleshooting toolsCCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) preferred
