ManTech seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Lead Network Engineer to join our team in Herndon, VA to design, implement, and maintain secure and scalable network infrastructure supporting federal clients.
In this role, you will lead network architecture efforts, oversee implementation, and ensure compliance with government security standards across complex environments. This position plays a critical role in enabling high availability in support of the national security mission.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Design, deploy, and manage secure, scalable network solutions across enterprise and mission-critical environments.
Perform network capacity planning, performance tuning, and optimization.
Ensure network architecture complies with federal security standards for the respective national security customer (e.g., DISA STIGs, FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53).
Develop and maintain documentation including network diagrams, SOPs, and contingency plans.
Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems engineering, and cloud teams to align on end-to-end architecture, and to support implementation, maintenance and incident response.
Manage vendor relationships, evaluate tools, and implement new technologies as appropriate.
Support ATO/accreditation efforts and participate in security audits and assessments.
Provide escalation support and technical leadership during network incidents and outages.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field OR additional equivalent experience
8+ years of experience in network engineering; 3+ years in a technical leadership role
Strong experience with Cisco, Juniper, or Palo Alto technologies
Proficiency in routing/switching, VPNs, firewalls, and load balancing in enterprise and secure environments
Experience supporting federal networks and knowledge of RMF, DISA STIGs, or NIST 800-53
Familiarity with Cloud network integrations (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, etc.)
Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
Prior experience supporting the Intelligence Community
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications: CCNP, CISSP, CEH, JNCIP, or similar
Experience with SD-WAN, Zero Trust architecture, or hybrid-Cloud networking
Knowledge of federal compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, FISMA, CMMC)
Clearance Requirements:
Must have active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office
machinery, etc.
Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may
involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in
these situations.
