Summary:
The Electrical and Controls Engineer designs electrical control systems for new and existing products, conducts testing and assists with developing algorithms for new and existing products, applies knowledge of electrical/electronic principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. This position provides skilled electrical/electronic support to the R&D area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties may include the following. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary to support production and quality goals and objectives.
Work with customers to obtain quotes for new product development.
Work with printed circuit board manufacturers to obtain quotes for prototype and production units.
Define laboratory configuration for new product development.
Determine power and/or wiring requirements for new products in the laboratory environment.
Measurement and verification of laboratory testing (airflows, temperatures, etc.).
Troubleshoot project issues as they arise in the development phase and assist with troubleshooting in production when needed.
Coordinate with global Research and Development counterparts as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor of Science Degree or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or Technology
7 to 9 years’ experience
AutoCad and/or SolidWorks experience
LabView software experience
Familiar with PLC and PLC programs
Language Skills
Ability to read and speak English
Possess both written and oral communication skills appropriate to a workplace environment
Ability to read and interpret documents such as testing and safety standards, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Other Skills
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to use AutoCAD, Solid Works, or other design tools to manufacture prototype products
Ability to use Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
Ability to use data acquisition equipment to control and monitor process variables
Develop Sequence of Operations for new products, coordinate with team members in controls algorithm development
