Job Description

The CNC Programmer/Operator/Machinist is responsible for developing and executing custom programs to produce high-precision components from engineered drawings. This role involves creating specialized parts and tooling from materials such as steel, aluminum, and plastics, while strategically optimizing machine cycle times and minimizing tool wear.

Responsibilities

The CNC Programmer/Operator/Machinist will be responsible for executing a variety of daily, weekly, and project-based tasks, including but not limited to:

Operating two Haas Vertical Milling Machine VF3 - 20" x 40" equipped with Gen2 Controller & VF5 - 26" x 50" equipped with Gen3 Controller

Setup and program CNC machines from scratch using Mastercam 2024 software

Apply proper speeds and feeds for various materials to maximize efficiency and minimize tool wear

Operate standard machining equipment, including Bridgeports, lathes, surface grinders, and drill presses

Utilize a strong machining background to ensure accuracy and quality in all operations

Interpret and analyze plans, technical drawings, work samples, specifications, and work orders to determine machining requirements and optimal work flow

Work independently from assembly drawings, detail drawings, sketches or verbal instruction with minimal supervision

Collaborate with engineering to implement design improvements and optimize manufacturing processes

Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety and follow all safety protocols

Perform routine maintenance and ensure cleanliness and organization of machines and work areas

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Mastercam and CNC programming certification preferred

Strong understanding of both basic and advanced machining principles

Knowledge of material properties, applications, and finishing techniques

Experienced in the use of precision machining tools such as sine bars, gauge blocks, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.

Proficient in shop match, including calculating angles, ratios, and proportions using formulas and geometric principles, etc.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machining and programming issues
