Delta-V Energetics is a privately owned developer of explosive products and a provider of energetic materials test services. We operate from a 1,120-acre facility near Tremonton, Utah, purpose-built for full-scale explosives testing and prototype development.
We perform the full range of UN Series 1–8 explosives classification tests and are actively developing innovative systems such as AXUS (Avalanche eXplosive UAV System).
Safety is our top priority. All operations follow rigorous SOPs, ATF regulations, and comprehensive site-specific safety protocols. Every team member undergoes thorough initial and ongoing training to ensure the safe handling, testing, and development of energetic materials.
Position Overview
Delta-V Energetics is seeking a highly capable and motivated Test Engineer to support energetic materials testing operations and contribute to the development of next-generation explosive technologies, including AXUS. This is a hands-on, technical, onsite role based at our Tremonton, Utah facility. Minimal remote work is possible; occasional travel may be required.
We’re looking for a self-starter who thrives in high-consequence environments and is eager to take initiative in both field testing and R&D. This role also includes helping expand our capabilities by supporting the design of new infrastructure, test systems, and diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute energetic materials tests per customer needs and UN Series 1–8 guidelines
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot high-speed data acquisition systems (e.g., Hi-Techniques Synergy P, Vision Research Phantom cameras)
Install and calibrate sensors including pressure transducers, thermocouples, VOD probes, accelerometers, and acoustic sensors
Collaborate in design, prototyping, and validation of novel explosive products
Analyze and document test results; support product optimization
Maintain lab and field instrumentation for calibration and operational readiness
Train others and model safe handling procedures as part of Delta-V’s safety-first culture
Contribute to development of new test equipment, procedures, and diagnostic capabilities
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or a related technical field
At least 3 years of experience working with energetic materials in a test, development, or production environment
Proficient in building and troubleshooting electrical circuits and firing systems
Familiar with energetic materials safety procedures and regulatory compliance
Strong situational awareness and sound judgment in hazardous environments
Ability to pass a background check by the BATFE
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with UN/DOT classification testing and performance diagnostics
Proficiency in high-speed photography, pressure sensors, and VOD measurement
Hands-on experience with UAV systems or remote deployment platforms
FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot Certificate
Programming and analysis skills (LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python)
CAD or prototyping experience (Fusion 360 or equivalent)
Experience with facility buildouts or new test site development

Salary range: $85,000 – $125,000 per year, depending on qualifications
