Job Description

Summary: Responsible to lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, such as hoppers, feeders, and conveyors within the manufacturing industry. Also responsible for assembling and installing component parts and equipment into machinery being built.

Essential Functions:

MIG and TIG welding end effectors to machine tool bases and structures.

Determines required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.

Cuts required material, using powered saws, hand shears, or cutting torch.

Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.

Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.

Examine and review all relevant blueprints, schematic drawings, and layouts to fabricate weldments and build per print.

Removes rough spots from workpiece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.

Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, caliper, and ruler.

Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.

Perform rigging and dismantling functions when necessary.

Other functions may be directed by Management.

Skills/Abilities:

Experience troubleshooting problems, finding solutions, and implementing those solutions.

Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.

Ability to fabricate weldments, standard and metric.

Ability to safely operate equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, etc.

Education and Experience:

Minimum 5 years’ relevant industry experience within industrial environment

Minimum 5 years’ fitting-welding experience

Experience working as a Machine Tool Builder preferred.

Experience with specialty parts feeding and material handling systems required.

Working Conditions:

May be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, and occasionally chemical fumes.

The noise level within the manufacturing floor may be faint to moderate, and occasionally loud.

Eyewear is mandatory while in the manufacturing area.

Safety shoes such as hard-soled shoes are to be worn in the manufacturing area.

Willing to travel locally and long-distance to customer sites when needed.

Must be able to work overtime when required as job permits.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Must be able to bend, and lift objects up to 35 pounds if required.Company Description
