Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician who will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing plant machinery and equipment. You will be responsible for fabricating guards, installing components, and mounting motors, with an emphasis on hydraulic systems. This position requires responding promptly to machine break calls and handling repairs and maintenance following diagrams and manufacturers' specifications.

Responsibilities

Repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment, including forklifts, loaders, planers, milling machines, and compressors, using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring instruments.

Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and using precision measuring instruments.

Inform production workers and supervisors of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitor compliance to control downtime.

Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.

Examine parts to detect imperfections and inspect used parts for dimensional changes using measuring instruments.

Repair or replace control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contactors, motor starters, as needed.

Diagnose and repair diesel and gas engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, and systems on various heavy equipment.

Perform work order repairs, inspections, and adjustments.

Set up and operate welders, drill press, grinder, hand tools, and other metal working equipment.

Fabricate repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.

Participate in plant safety, health, and environmental programs, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Follow company policies and procedures and ensure all work-related activities are conducted ethically and consistently.

Diagnose and repair building systems, including plumbing, heating, electrical, and carpentry.

Initiate purchase requests for parts and machines as needed.

Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks.Essential Skills

5 years of experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, and electrical repairAdditional Skills & Qualifications

Post-secondary education and/or technical trade certificate is an asset

Work Environment

Work in a dynamic warehouse environment exposed to the elements, including cold winters and hot summers. This role involves physical labor and requires working in dusty and noisy conditions. The workweek consists of five days, Monday to Friday, with 9-hour shifts. There is a potential for overtime and weekend work, especially during busy periods. Jewelry is discouraged due to safety concerns around machinery.

Job Type & Location

This is a position based out of Reading, Pennsylvania.Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr.
