Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to lead efforts in data integration, data architecture, and enterprise analytics. This position plays a key role in overseeing the development and management of data models, data pipelines, and warehouse systems used to support FBI missions.
The Senior Data Engineer will coordinate with both internal and external stakeholders to collect, normalize, analyze, and visualize large and complex datasets. The ideal candidate will also assess data quality, recommend infrastructure improvements, and support overall enterprise data strategies through system design and implementation guidance.
Responsibilities:
Oversee data integration efforts, including the development and maintenance of data models and enterprise data warehouse environments.
Write, optimize, and maintain scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) across multiple internal and external platforms.
Lead coordination with FBI stakeholders, partner agencies, and external data providers to manage the collection, normalization, and aggregation of data sets.
Investigate and improve data quality, consistency, and reliability across all stages of the data lifecycle.
Design and implement scalable solutions for the management and analysis of large, complex datasets in support of operational and investigative goals.
Recommend changes to enterprise data architecture, applications, and infrastructure based on system performance and evolving mission needs.
Support visualization efforts through collaboration with analysts and developers, ensuring actionable insights from integrated datasets.
Evaluate and recommend hardware and software tools to improve performance, scalability, and security of data systems.
Guide and implement best practices for data governance, security compliance, and performance optimization.
Required Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship and an active Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
10+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or enterprise analytics roles.
Proficiency in data modeling, ETL processes, SQL scripting, and data warehouse technologies.
Experience working with large, complex datasets across internal and third-party platforms.
Strong understanding of data governance, normalization, metadata, and quality assurance frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate across departments and lead data-focused technical teams.
Familiarity with modern data stack tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Python, Kafka, cloud-based storage).
Preferred Qualifications:
AWS or Azure Data Engineering Certifications
Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik
Background in secure data environments or experience in national security/military data systems
