The Development Assistant intern position functions to assist and help coordinate the daily efforts of the Samaritan Healthcare Foundation & team operations under the direction of CDCO. Provides daily administrative support for the Foundation donor cycle and volunteer operations, including but not limited to gift processing, volunteer tracking & communications, gift shop operations, and assistance with coordinating ongoing meetings & events on behalf of the Development & Communications team.

This is a temporary, full-time position working M-F 8:30a-5p with occasional evenings/weekends for event support for a 3-month period.

Position Qualifications Include:

Associate's degree preferred.

Minimum of (1) year volunteer or professional experience preferred.

Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience in donor database management is preferred but not required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Strong leadership, planning, and organization skills are required.

Please note a Basic Life Support Heartsaver (HS) level is to be completed within three (3) months of hire.

Essential Functions:

Administrative Support

Assist with scheduling meetings, taking meeting minutes, and maintaining departmental calendars.

Support filing, data entry, Foundation gift processing, and digital organization of department records.

Maintain inventory of marketing and development materials.

Handles daily cash reconciliations for gift shop, foundation gifts, etc..

Development Support

Help manage and update donor and contact databases (Bloomerang).

Assist with donor acknowledgment processes, including preparing thank-you letters and receipts.

Support preparation and logistics for Foundation Board & Committee Meetings.

In partnership with Outreach Specialist, assist with organization and prep for volunteer needs associated with Foundation events.

Assist with ordering and organization of swag needed for Foundation events.

Volunteer Support

Provide support for volunteer check-ins, communications and scheduling.

Prepare weekly volunteer schedule, including the management and tracking of timesheets within Track It Forward software application.

Send accounting monthly volunteer totals for hours worked across the organization.

Supports Student volunteer program, including interview process, volunteer orientation, and daily schedule logistics for student volunteers. Will serve as secondary point of contact for volunteers while on site.

Assist with monthly volunteer newsletter.

Other Duties as Assigned

Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions.

Perform special projects and research tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

Interest in nonprofit development, communications, or administration.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace; experience with Canva, Constant Contact, or CRM software is a plus.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
