Refrigeration Technician

The Refrigeration Technician will be essential in ensuring the effective freezing and frozen storage of food products, as well as the cooling of physical plant buildings. This role requires the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of ammonia and nitrogen refrigeration systems, alongside freezers, air conditioning, and chilled water systems. The technician will play a critical role in contributing to the companys profitability through safe and efficient practices while collaborating with supervisors and co-workers.

Skills

13 years of hands-on experience maintaining industrial ammonia refrigeration systems

Knowledge of nitrogen flash freezers and Reco/Frigoscandia brand freezers is highly desired

Proficiency in electrical, pipe fitting, hydraulics, and pneumatics

Strong basic business traits: attendance, punctuality, hygiene

Technical training in ammonia refrigeration and mechanical/electrical maintenance

Familiarity with microprocessors and 110480 Volt 3-phase AC electricity

Well-versed in all aspects of mechanical and electrical maintenance for industrial food freezing systems

Responsibilities

Maintain logs on operating results and issues

Analyze information to formulate a preventive maintenance plan

Troubleshoot and physically repair equipment

Use hand and specialty tools for maintenance tasks

Conduct routine inspections using sight, sound, and gauges

Read manuals and blueprints for proper operation and repairs

Order parts and supplies as needed for maintenance

Keep work areas clean in compliance with GMP requirements

Follow safety practices and use personal protective equipment

Ensure adherence to maintenance techniques and applicable codes

Maintain personal hygiene and housekeeping according to GMPs

Meet product safety and quality requirements

Identify system problems through data collection and inspection

Develop good working relationships and resolve conflicts respectfully

Cooperate with team goals and attend meetings

Adhere to plant rules, policies, and company ethics

Assist in training team members as necessary

Support other technicians using electrical, pipe fitting, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills

Qualifications

13 years of relevant experience in maintaining an industrial ammonia refrigeration system

Familiarity with nitrogen flash freezers is a plus

Experience in electrical, pipe fitting, hydraulics, and pneumatics is beneficial

High school diploma or equivalent with strong communication, reading, and math skills

Technical training in ammonia refrigeration and mechanical/electrical maintenance
