Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our team on a long-term contract basis in New York, New York. In this role, you will play a key part in a high-impact project involving the acquisition, validation, and integration of decades of historical market and security master data. You will work closely with external vendors and cross-functional teams to ensure data quality, accuracy, and completeness across large-scale datasets.
Responsibilities:
• Partner with external data vendors and internal teams to source and process extensive historical market and security master data.
• Design and implement data loaders to efficiently ingest datasets into internal systems.
• Perform rigorous data quality checks to identify and address anomalies or gaps in datasets.
• Collaborate with vendors and stakeholders to resolve data quality issues and ensure seamless integration.
• Maintain the integrity and timeliness of data processing efforts.
• Support quantitative researchers by providing accurate and complete datasets for analysis.
• Utilize financial data terminals like Bloomberg and Eikon to access and analyze market data.
• Document processes and workflows to enhance transparency and reproducibility in data handling.• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Python scripting, particularly for processing large and complex datasets.
• Proven expertise in handling market and security master data spanning decades and multiple tickers.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in using financial data platforms such as Bloomberg Terminal or Eikon.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
