SUMMARY: This position is responsible for facilities are in good operating condition, specifically they will prepare and paint a variety of surfaces, determine if repairs that can be accomplished by building staff or if repairs can be accomplished during operational hours or holidays/weekends. They will also ensure availability of supplies required for job assignments, and ensure assignments are completed in a safe, proper, and timely manner.

1. Coordinates with administration and staff to complete projects/work orders efficiently, safely and in a timely manner.

2. Applies different kind of paints/varnishes/coverings to various surfaces using all painting tools and associated equipment (e.g. sanders, sprayers, rollers, etc.) and methods (e.g. brush and roll, spray, trowel, etc.). Mixes paints and stains for the purpose of achieving the right color for the job.

3. Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.

4. Designs/Installs signs (e.g. painting signs, stencils school property, etc.) for the purpose of providing directional and cautionary information.

5. Prepares various surfaces (e.g. cleaning, sanding, priming, filling holes and cracks, joints, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that they are ready for painting.

6. Perform small to large drywall and plaster repairs matching various textures using hoppers and other texturing tools and techniques.

7. Maintains tools and/or painting equipment, sprayers, and stripers for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.

8. Procure equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items. Stock and inventory paint and supply as well as keep stock organized and up to date.

9. Remove graffiti (e.g. covering. Cleaning or painting walls for the purpose of graffiti removal, etc.) to minimize effects of vandalism and maintain attractive facilities.

10. Assists other trades as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

11. Use basic computer skills to create, fill out, and close work orders, log paint colors and perform time clock operations.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma, or equivalent, required
3-5 years’ experience in a painting trade, preferred
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
Criminal background check required for hire.
Valid state issued Driver’s License, required
Must obtain and maintain Defensive Driving certificate by the conclusion of the district-provided training course
Asbestos Supervisor certification, required within 3 months of hire

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:
Operating knowledge of and?experience with personal computers and peripherals?
Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as?telephones, copier, fax machine, etc.? Operating knowledge?of and experience with office productivity programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, etc.
Operating knowledge of district information technology systems and department-specific?software and equipment required within 3 months after entering position
