Job Summary
ATS is seeking a highly skilled Senior RF Engineer to design, optimize, and support public safety and cellular DAS projects across the United States. This role requires deep expertise in RF engineering, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate on complex projects. The Senior RF Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring system performance, compliance, and client satisfaction while mentoring junior engineers and supporting field operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and optimize public safety and cellular DAS systems, including RF propagation modeling and link budget analysis.
Perform site surveys, RF testing, and system commissioning to ensure optimal performance and coverage.
Develop detailed RF design plans, including antenna placement, equipment selection, and system integration.
Analyze and troubleshoot RF performance issues, ensuring compliance with standards (e.g., NFPA, FCC, UL).
Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and clients to deliver high-quality solutions on time and within budget.
Utilize tools such as iBwave, PCTEL Collection, or similar software for RF design and optimization.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and field technicians.
Prepare technical documentation, including system designs, test reports, and compliance certifications.
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in DAS and RF systems.
Support field operations with occasional national travel for on-site troubleshooting and client meetings (up to 25% travel).
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in RF engineering, with at least 3 years focused on DAS systems (public safety or cellular).
Expertise in RF principles, including signal propagation, interference mitigation, and antenna theory.
Proficiency with RF design and testing tools (e.g., iBwave, PCTEL, Anritsu, Keysight).
Strong knowledge of industry standards, including NFPA 72, NFPA 1221, FCC regulations, and FirstNet requirements.
Experience with DAS equipment from manufacturers such as ADRF, Comba, Nextivity, and Westell.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for complex RF challenges.
Strong communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting to clients.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel nationally as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) license or industry certifications (e.g., iBwave Level 2/3, CWNP, or DAS manufacturer certifications).
Experience with public safety ERRCS (Emergency Responder Radio Coverage Systems) and 5G deployments.
Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Fieldwire) and Bluebeam for design documentation.
