Position Description
DEFINITION:
The Boost Program Director will lead a comprehensive academic support initiative modeled on CUNY’s nationally recognized Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) and Accelerate, Complete, Engage (ACE). Boost is designed to improve retention, reduce time-to-degree, and support degree completion through proactive academic advising, career development, and financial assistance.
In addition to overseeing the launch and strategic implementation of the Boost program, the Director will manage all aspects of its operations—including staffing, data management, and student support delivery—while serving as a key liaison across college divisions. The Director will also work closely with and support the Sr. Director of Advising & Health Science Enrollment Center in the day-to-day operations of the advising center, as needed, contributing to broader student success efforts and ensuring alignment of services across the institution.
***This is a Time Limited, Temporary Full Time Grant Funded Position. Position ends July 2030 with potential to be extended***
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives general supervision from the Sr. Director, Advising & Health Science Enrollment Center
Exercise functional and technical supervision over Boost program advisors
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Essential Functions:
Program Leadership & Strategic Planning
Lead the planning, implementation, and daily operations of the Boost program.
Collaborate with college leadership, faculty, and staff to align Boost with campus-wide student success efforts.
Develop and implement local policies and procedures consistent with Boost program guidelines.
Represent the program on college committees and cultivate strategic partnerships to ensure program sustainability.Advising Center Operations & Support
Manage and maintain accurate advising resources, including a centralized resource library.
Oversee the student appointment check-in process, including use of the Q-Less queue management system.
Assist in staff scheduling to ensure consistent office coverage across both CFCC campuses and two centers.
Track and report advisement data to support internal planning and assessment.
Support students in complex or sensitive situations requiring additional attention or escalation.
Serve as the point of contact in the absence of the Senior Director of Advising and Health Science Enrollment.Staff Management & Development
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise Boost program staff.
Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
Provide regular performance feedback and support professional development opportunities.Data & Reporting
Participate in training opportunities offered to design CFCC’s data systems (receive guidance from BOOST program liaisons and collaborate with CFCC colleagues).
Managesystems to monitor student engagement, retention, and academic performance.
Analyze and share data with college leadership to guide program improvements.
Prepare institutional and external reports as required.Financial & Operational Oversight
Manage the program budget and oversee the distribution of financial supports such as tuition gap scholarships, textbook assistance, and other incentives.Enrollment & Outreach
Develop and execute recruitment and enrollment strategies to meet participation targets.
Coordinate with key college departments—including admissions, registrar, financial aid, and career services—to reduce barriers and streamline student onboarding and support.Other Important Functions:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
Student information systems (e.g., Colleague) and CRM platforms (e.g., Element 451)
Inclusive leadership, team development, and staff mentorship
Student services functions, including advising, counseling, admissions, registration, and financial aid
Student support best practices related to engagement, retention, and success
Conflict resolution, crisis management, and disciplinary procedures
Higher education operations, cross-departmental collaboration, and community partnership development

Institutional policies, accreditation standards, and state/federal regulations

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline.
Progressive experience in academic advising, student support services, or related higher education roles.Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership, Educational Psychology, Counseling, and/or Social Work.
Demonstrated success in implementing student success or retention initiatives
Experience working with diverse student populations, including first-generation and transfer students
Proficiency with student information systems (e.g., Colleague), CRM platforms (e.g., Element 451), and advising technologies
Knowledge of financial aid processes, including FAFSA completion, SAP, and verification
Experience supporting students in online, hybrid, and blended learning environments
Community College experience preferred
