Position Title: Research & Development Lab Technician Reports To: Director of Polymer Science
Summary
Thermoflex Corporation is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Research & Development (R&D) Lab Technician to join our team. The R&D Lab Technician will be responsible for conducting batch mixing, compounding, injection molding, performing tests, recording testing data, and providing support to our research and development efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory procedures, excellent attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct Experiments: execute laboratory mixing, compounding, and testing as per established protocols, ensuring accurate and precision in all procedures
Data Collection & Analysis: Record and analyze experimental data, maintaining detailed and organized records. Prepare reports summarizing findings and results
Equipment Maintenance: Calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment regularly to ensure proper functionality; reporting any issues or malfunctions promptly
Sampling Handling: Handle and prepare samples for testing, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and disposal in accordance with safety and environmental regulations
Quality Control: Perform quality control checks of production samples on a regular basis
Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe working environment
Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of raw materials. Reports when raw materials are running low promptly
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date laboratory records, including experiment logs, equipment logs, and safety documentation
Reliable attendance
Other duties as assigned in Managements sole discretion
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
Minimum high school diploma
Bachelors degree in a relevant field preferred but not required (Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline)
Previous laboratory experience preferred
Strong understanding of laboratory procedures and safety protocols
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Effective communication and teamwork abilities
Ability to work independently and follow instructions
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required
Will be required to submit to a mandatory Respirator Mask Physical/Fit Test at hire
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb for extended periods
Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
Ability to work in varying temperatures and noise levels within a manufacturing environment
Will be required to drive a forklift
