Position: Security Specialist
JOB DESCRIPTION
Scope
The Security Specialist promotes a secure and safe environment for all students, employees, and visitors, helping Christian Academy live up to our biblical mandate: “Now it’s up to you. Be on your toes—both for yourselves and your congregation of sheep. The Holy Spirit has put you in charge of these people—God’s people they are—to guard and protect them.” Acts 20:28 (The Message). The Security Specialist promotes compliance with local, state, and federal K-12 school security regulations. This role emphasizes collaborating with law enforcement, leading safety operations, and developing strategies to safeguard lives and assets. This position requires occasional evenings, weekends, and rare holiday work to respond to emergencies.
Qualifications
The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:
A strong and clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit
A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school
A commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Christian Academy School System Statement of Faith
Agreement and belief that The Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and proper conduct of mankind
The ideal candidate shall possess:
At least three years in law enforcement or emergency management
Understanding of integrating safety with organizational goals
Experience working effectively with diverse groups
Proven ability to plan and deliver training to varied audiences
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
History of gathering information through observation during interview settings
Accountabilities / Responsibilities
Investigate security incidents impacting students, employees, or visitors
Coordinate and implement emergency training (tabletop, functional, full-scale)
Maintain records of drills, training, and participant involvement
Participate in high-risk event security
Evaluate and implement security policies and practices
Build partnerships with law enforcement and private security agencies
Collaborate with school counselors to conduct threat assessments
Develop abuse prevention and detection programs
Oversee emergency supply distribution and inventory
Assist visitors, check for passes, and manage unauthorized access

Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Travel as needed across all school system locations
Engage effectively with diverse student populations
Deliver presentations to various audience
Operate security systems and manage emergency situations
Additional Requirements
Earn ALICE and Red Cross Instructor certifications within 60 days
Complete ICS 100, 200, and NIMS 700 within 90 days
Demonstrate security camera proficiency within 10 days

Timely, thorough investigations into security-related matters
Increase in frequency and depth of security-related training and exercises
Deployed program to prevent, detect, or respond to physical, emotional, verbal, or sexual abuse
Regular assessment and improvement of security efforts
Positive collaboration with the team to provide efficient/optimum operating levels

Reports to the Security Manager.
