Position Summary:
The Senior Automation Engineer Position will be part of the Controls Group. The position is responsible for designing, managing, testing, implementing, and completing projects in a timely manner, under budget, and exceeding project specifications. The position will work with the company departments to support Engineering, Project Management, Sales, Receiving, Drafting, Documentation, Purchasing, Production, and Shipping. The position will directly execute and/or supervise execution of projects including the elements of controls project management, panel design, wiring diagrams, hardware design, vendor/end user/consultant interaction, Robot Programming, PLC/HMI programming, testing, and onsite support. The position will support Sales assisting with recommended control/robotic systems scope of work, system control architecture solutions, and estimating. The position will mentor, supervise, validate designs, and provide technical guidance for others.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Technically Manage Controls/Robotics discipline on multiple large projects.
· Coordinate Projects and Resources to meet expected quality, schedule, and budget.
· Direct and Supervise Teams
· Review project requirements and scheduling with customers/project managers.
· Work with customers/project managers to identify and budget project scope changes.
· Work with Sales to develop control system architectures, project execution strategy, and validate labor estimates.
· Technical resource for others providing insight and guidance for solving problems.
· Provide technical direction, training, and mentoring of engineering and field personnel.
· Oversee design of control panels to perform industrial controls functions per the customer's specifications outlined in a bid proposal. This includes complete panel layout and wiring diagrams. Drawings for each project will be generated using AutoCad software.
· Procurement of components and materials.
· Work with engineering design group for design reviews and controls hardware specifications.
· Coordinate with Panel Production Group in fabrication/assembly of control panels.
· Develop procedures and plans for factory and field testing of control systems.
· Develop and maintain project execution tasks lists including design, factory setup (FAT), and site installation phases (SAT)
· Technical Management of subcontractors, primarily related to controls aspects of the project (drafting, programming, electrical installation, commissioning)
· Assist engineering/assembly/installation crews with controls system equipment location (Including field device sensor locations) to achieve desired functional operation.
· Review electrical installation of control/robotic systems with field electricians.
· Support field installation of control/robotic systems per schematics.
· Robot Program Development utilizing offline and online development software, along with communication setup to other devices for the applications.
· Program Development of PLC’s, HMI’s, and configuring other control system components.
· Complete testing, debug, and startup of system installation to the satisfaction of the customer.
· Technical Document Writing such as Work Packages, Testing Procedures, Training Plans, Functional Descriptions, and Operating Manuals.
· Assist with expansion of current program templates and development of new program templates that make it more conducive for customer troubleshooting and cross support of team programmers, and once proven, finalizing into work processes.
· Continuously expand knowledge of emerging technologies and stay ahead of the latest advancements in the field to maintain a competitive advantage.
· Leverage creative problem-solving abilities to devise cutting-edge technologies and continuously refine solutions to maximize value for the customer.
· Collaborate with a cross-functional team to understand customer needs and technical challenges in order to develop transformative automation that solves complex problems.
· Comprehensive testing and validation procedures are crucial to guaranteeing the dependability and resilience of automated systems under diverse operating conditions. Help identify and implement robust quality assurance and control processes verifying system integrity and identifies potential failure modes prior to deployment.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Experience, Skills, and Ability Requirements:
· Ability to work in a team-oriented, multi-disciplinary environment.
· Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects.
· Ability to travel onsite to customer facilities.
· Demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn technical skills

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact with customers, vendors, company employees, and subcontractors.
· Proficiency in reading and comprehending industrial electrical wiring diagrams
· Some experience with three-dimensional modeling software such as SolidWorks
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
· PLC and HMI Programming, Rockwell Automation preferred, minimum 2 years
· Robot Programming, Yaskawa and/or Fanuc preferred, minimum 2 years
· Vision Programming, Keyence preferred
· Inductive Automation’s Ignition experience preferred
· Expertise in designing, deploying, and supporting automated solutions utilizing robotics and vision technologies.
· In-depth knowledge of industrial automation frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
· Proven analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to rapidly learn, continuously improve, and apply new innovations in a fast-paced environment.
