An AVIXA AV technician, or Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), installs, maintains, and troubleshoots audiovisual systems, ensuring they meet client needs and comply with industry standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Installs, tests, and repair audio visual, intercom and communication systems.
Uses blueprints or building plans to determine proper systems installation based on building layout and setting.
Run low voltage cabling, terminate various cable types, and install hardware.
Inspects and tests systems, batteries, and low voltage wiring; make adjustments and repairs as required.
Service existing systems, replace malfunctioning hardware when necessary.
Ensures systems comply with local building codes and ANSI standards.
Explains and demonstrates system function and operation to end users.
Oversee a helper or additional staff as needed.
Performs other related duties as required.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of audio visual, low voltage & intercom systems and installation.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Ability to read installation and system manuals.
Ability to read blueprints and building plans.
Ability to use hand and power tools to install hardware.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Vocational/technical school training highly preferred; on-the-job training may be provided.
AV certification required and must be attached to resume for consideration. CTS, CTS-I, and/or ANP Certification is preferred.
5+ years of related experience.
