Job Title: Tool Room Machinist

Job Description

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts, fixtures, and work holdings. You will also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair products, applying knowledge of shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

Responsibilities

Position and fasten work pieces.

Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto parts to specifications using machine tools such as manual mills/lathes, drill press, sanders, and other support equipment.

Set up, adjust, and operate basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations.

Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, depth micrometers, inside diameter gauges, and outside diameter gauges.

Read and interpret blueprints to ensure parts are being made according to specifications.

Create blueprints for fixtures and tooling.

Listen to machine and tooling to ensure proper operation.

Operate hoist to load parts onto machining center, lathe, or mill.

Efficiently take down jobs, including tooling, cleaning fixtures, and returning gauges.Essential Skills

2+ years of tooling knowledge on manual machines

5+ years experience with blueprint reading, setup, and machining

General knowledge of tooling speeds and feed rates

Experience with inspection, troubleshooting, and G code programming

Ability to set up machines and read blueprintsAdditional Skills & Qualifications

Some CNC experience is a plus

Experience with Mazak and Haas machinery

Ability to operate various machine tools and understand gauging sheetsPay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $32.00/hr.
