Job Description
This position is responsible for directing financial activities, such as planning, procurement, and investments for all or part of the City in a timely and efficient manner by maintaining high levels of organization and customer service.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

*Receipting all revenue coming into the City from department heads, Auditor of the State, Floyd County Auditor, insurance companies, and other sources. Establishing deposit slips to take to the banks and reconciling amounts with the Reports of Collections from each department within the city.
Furnish summary of income received for the State Board of Accounts, departments, and the Controller's records.
*Posting the information into our system and printing receipts for our records.
*Preparing Federal Withholding, FICA, Medicare FICA statements bi-weekly. Preparing State taxes monthly. Preparing quarterly reports for the Federal Government and State Government. Preparing the annual reports for the IRS and State of Indiana.
*Making payroll deductions, making sure the changes are done as the employee desires, as contracts change and premium amounts change.
*Pay insurance premiums monthly. Paying deductions bi-weekly.
Assist the controller with whatever is needed concerning budgets, meetings and every day duties. Taking on the duties of the controller in her absence.
Assist the Payroll Clerk and Claims Clerk when needed. Inputting payroll and claims, cutting checks, transferring monies for direct deposits, depositing monies into proper bank accounts. Assisting in the time card records.
Answering insurance questions and HR questions in the absence of our HR.
Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of accounting and other financial staff, recommending and implementing personnel actions, such as promotions and dismissals.
Performs financial reporting, accounting, billing and collections.
Develop and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and non-organizational accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities.
Receive, record, and authorize requests for disbursements in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Receive cash and checks and make deposits.
Handle aspects of employee insurance, benefits, and casualty programs..
Perform tax planning work.
Prepare and file annual tax returns.
Compute, withhold, and account for all payroll deductions.
Perform other duties as assigned by Mayor or designee.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
This position requires working in the internal environment.
This position requires a flexible work schedule; night and/or weekends may be required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING
High school diploma required.
Previous customer services experience.
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form.
A pleasant, friendly, and outgoing demeanor.
Experience in Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
Ability to handle a high volume of incoming calls while maintaining proper phone etiquette and a high level of professionalism at all times.
Willingness to take on additional tasks as assigned.
