We're seeking a hands-on, solutions-driven Manufacturing Engineer with a strong background in designing, building, modifying, and repairing industrial machinery and production equipment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the reliable production of high-quality, profitable parts, while also leading efforts to innovate, streamline processes, and solve complex engineering challenges.
About the Role
This equipment and process-focused role requires a deep understanding of custom manufacturing processes and a strong mechanical mindset. You will lead both strategic and hands-on initiatives, especially related to custom equipment and machinery. Candidates with experience in hydraulics and automated systems are especially encouraged to apply.
What You'll Do
Technical Leadership & Strategy
Lead the design, adaptation, and continuous improvement of custom machinery and production systems
Manage complex engineering projects
Define and optimize manufacturing processes for small-batch, custom-built parts
Collaborate across departments to implement purpose-built equipment that enhances quality, efficiency, and scalability Machinery & Equipment Focus
Design, build, modify, and repair custom mechanical and hydraulic machinery for use in production
Lead efforts in mechanical problem-solving, equipment troubleshooting, and performance optimization
Ensure custom-built systems align with evolving production demands, safety standards, and process requirements
Support the full lifecycle of production equipment-from concept to design, fabrication, installation, and maintenance Process Improvement & Quality
Apply engineering principles and data analysis to drive improvements in yields, cost, and cycle time
Develop and refine robust manufacturing methods and quality control strategies
Support the integration of automated inspection and monitoring systems
Partner with QA to address product performance and implement corrective actions Tooling & Equipment Projects
Lead capital equipment projects as needed-from planning to installation.
Specify, source, and commission new machinery and tooling.
Serve as the go-to expert for key production systems and electromechanical equipment.
Work alongside maintenance teams on complex equipment repair or upgrades. Customer & Internal Support
Jump in to help resolve customer-facing technical issues when needed.
Act as a technical liaison across departments to solve challenges and ensure production goals are met. What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field required; Master's preferred
Minimum 10 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role
Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining custom industrial machinery
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and controls
Background in machining, forming, and finishing processes is a plus
ERP system experience preferred
Strong project leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor technical teams
Lean/Six Sigma experience required
Semiconductor or fiber-based manufacturing experience is a plus
