Position: Security Manager / DPFSO
Role Purpose
As Security Manager and Designated Port Facility Security Officer (DPFSO), you will be responsible for implementing and enhancing the security risk management framework at APM Terminals Bahrain. Reporting to the Chief Government & Security Affairs Officer (PFSO), this role ensures compliance with APMM Global Security standards and International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code regulations, safeguarding our people, operations, and assets.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Supporting the Chief Government & Security Affairs Officer (PFSO) and success of APMM strategy through the implementation, improvement, and quality assurance of our APMM Global Security Framework and the Contracting Government regulatory requirements of the ISPS Code and local laws, embedded through APMT Ways of Working.
Build cooperation, understanding and influence behaviors on Security as an enabler for our people and our business through regular positive engagement, open communication, and collaboration across functions at all levels. Engage with internal stakeholders across the region, with appropriate security authorities and external professional security networks.
APMT Security Processes
Provide a secure operating environment for APMT employees and business through:
Monitoring the local security context to pro-actively identify specific threats sources and actors, identify risks and vulnerabilities. Assess and manage commensurate treatment options and/or provide evidenced justification for revised process/resource needs through use of the APMM provided Security Risk Management platform (Human Risks)
Provide timely and accurate security incident reporting per the APMM Security Incident Reporting standard, coordinating security incident response mechanisms, risk treatment procedures and monitoring outcomes through use of APMM provided Security risk Management platform (Human Risks).
Responsible for all Terminal Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) duties per IMO/Contracting Government ISPS Code. Ensures Terminal ISPS regulatory compliance of Port Facility Security Plan including monitoring, improvement, and quality assurance.
Provide support in the development, maintenance, and delivery of Security Management Plans promoting effective Security Risk Management by implementing effective Business Continuity Plan, ensuring all Crisis Management, Hibernation Relocation and Evacuation Plans, and ensuring associated procedures are updated and tested on a regular basis.
Manage, monitor and quality assure the Terminal’s security risk management vendors, ensuring effective service delivery to support the SMP. Contributes subject matter expertise to all Terminal Security Procurement activities through use of APMM Global Security Standards, liaison with Asset Engineering, Global Procurement Security Category Manager and Regional Security Manager. Ensures commensurate priority is assigned to the procurement process, while monitoring, and evaluating the outcome.
Manage, monitor and quality assure delivery of APMM Travel Security standards and procedures, communication of all travel risk prevention/mitigation provisions to ensure the physical wellbeing of APMM colleagues and contractors when traveling for the business, including travel security procedures, Journey Management Plan with special precautions in/out of High-Risk locations.
Manage, monitor and quality assure delivery of APMM Security Duty of Care standards and procedures related procedures for employee visits, and short-term assignments to Terminals in High-risk countries/locations. Communication of all Security Duty of Care risk prevention/mitigation provisions related to offices, residences, routes, schools, vehicles, specialised trainings, and briefings to ensure the physical well-being of APMM employees.
Consulting with Regional Security Manager and Chief Government & Security Affairs Officer (PFSO), performs detailed, confidential, and impartial investigations of security incidents and concerns delivering comprehensive information for internal and/ or external disciplinary and/ or legal action. Including investigation of severe security incidents impacting APM Terminals employee’s, assets, operations, or reputation.
Influence and change behaviours through building and maintaining a terminal wide security culture community through actively engaging and communicating the local security context, onboarding of new employees, provision of specialised security training and providing local context security risk advisories to employees and visitors.
Control budgets for security operations and monitor expenses.
Conduct performance evaluations, develop learning teams, increase knowledge and skills, identify opportunities for improvement and build team cohesion within Terminals security team through use of formal channels.
MANAGING STAKEHOLDERS
Provides security risk management expertise and knowledge to facilitate business objectives.
Establish and maintain strong security networks with external security managers and law enforcement entities, to leverage support and engage in information and intelligence sharing to support a stronger security environment.
Ensures regular security updates to Chief Government & Security Affairs Officer (PFSO) and maintains open communication on security issues into Functional leads.

The position reports to the Chief Government & Security Affairs Officer (PFSO) on accountability, performance management, readiness and quality control.

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years + experience in a Security Manager Level role within the sector with a positive record in the delivery of sector business objectives
Prior relevant experience having served with public law enforcement and/ or intelligence service an advantage.
Must have relevant professional Security Management/Risk Management accredited qualification/ certification e.g., CSMP, CPP or similar.
Must have completed ISPS PFSO certification in previous 2 years from a recognised quality service provider.
Requires an in-depth knowledge of security procedures in-particular journey management and the implementation and management of Physical Protection Systems.
Strong understanding of the political and security interfaces across the region and sector areas of operations
A strong background and knowledge in investigative techniques, processes and report writing required.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to translate into effective oral and written briefs/ presentations at all levels.
Requires the highest level of integrity, tact, and discretion, with the ability to lead in high stress situations remaining calm with the ability to effectively prioritize, solve problems and execute tasks whilst being able to direct others in times of emergency.
Possess the ability to forge strong and effective relationships and resolve differences across organizational, public, and private boundaries.
Must be self-motivated, possess a positive attitude and drive with the ability to contribute to a team-based, multi-cultural work environment.
A demonstrated continued professional development within Security Risk Management
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
English level of minimum 13 – EF

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Risk Management, Criminology, or related field.
Minimum 5–7 years of professional experience in corporate or maritime security.
Certified Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO) accreditation (mandatory).
Strong knowledge of ISPS Code, local regulatory frameworks, and security risk management tools (preferably Human Risks platform).
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and people management skills.
Fluency in English (written and spoken); Arabic language skills are a plus.
