Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Application Development Manager, the Salesforce Administrator is responsible for the ongoing configuration, development, maintenance, and improvement of the Salesforce CRM platform. This role ensures the platform supports agency goals through efficient business process automation, user experience optimization, and reliable data integrity. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge of the Salesforce ecosystem with experience in application development, integration, and stakeholder engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administration

Manage user access, permissions, roles, profiles, and security settings.

Establish and manage changes to Salesforce metadata and code under a Git platform and follow agency’s change management process.

Perform routine platform maintenance, health checks, and release management.

Create and manage custom objects, fields, page layouts, record types, workflows, and validation rules.

Monitor data quality and execute data import/export tasks using tools like Data Loader.

Development

Design and develop custom solutions using Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and Flows.

Create and maintain integrations with external systems via REST/SOAP APIs or middleware tools.

Build and optimize reports and dashboards to meet business needs.

Support & Collaboration

Serve as the point of contact for end-user support, training, and troubleshooting.

Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to gather requirements and deliver scalable solutions.

Work with external partners to implement enhancements and strategic initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Salesforce Administrator Certification required.

At least one Salesforce Developer Certification (Platform Developer I or higher) preferred.

Experience

3–5 years of hands-on Salesforce administration and development experience.

Experience with Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL/SOSL, and integration patterns.

Unusual Working Conditions

May require weekend and/or evening work

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:

Salesforce Ecosystem

Salesforce architecture, declarative configuration tools (e.g., Flows, validation rules, custom objects).

Apex programming, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Visualforce, and SOQL/SOSL.

Data management and integration practices using REST/SOAP APIs.

Development Methodologies & Tools

Agile project management principles (e.g., sprints, backlogs, user stories).

Version control systems, especially Git and Git-based workflows.

DevOps tools such as Gearset or Copado for CI/CD and deployment automation.

Business and Public-Sector Operations

CRM processes and business logic in government or public-sector settings.

Security and compliance requirements unique to government environments.

Salesforce security model (roles, profiles, permission sets, and sharing rules.

Skills in:

Technical Configuration & Development

Customizing and extending Salesforce using Apex, LWC, and declarative tools.

Managing deployments and metadata through DevOps platforms like Gearset or Copado.

Creating and optimizing reports and dashboards for data-driven decision-making.

Data and System Management

Using tools like Data Loader for import/export and data quality assurance.

Maintaining data integrity and system health across multiple environments.

Communication & Documentation

Translating technical processes into clear documentation and SOPs.

Communicating effectively with developers, business users, and external vendors.

Providing end-user training and support.

Abilities to:
