What you’ll do at OhioMHAS:
As a Psychiatric Nurse Coordinator/Educator you will:
Provide direction for clinical education and development for nursing and direct care staff, and for the assessment of patient status/needs
Provides clinical direction and acts as a lead worker over lower-level RNs, LPNs, and therapeutic program workers
Educates clinical staff and leads the assessment and evaluation of nursing needs and performance
Prepares and reviews records and reports (incidents, nursing care plans, shift reports, admissions, discharges, etc)
Coordinates and facilitates onboarding and training of new nursing staff
Tracks and coordinates continuing educational needs and recertifications off all nursing and direct care personnel.
Provides/Demonstrates patient care
Serves as an interdisciplinary treatment team member
Attends, conducts, and participates in in-service training sessions, meetings, and conferences
Meets with and counsels patients and their families.
This position requires extensive knowledge of professional nursing procedures, psychiatric nursing, employee development and training, as well as state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures.
This is an hourly position covered by the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of 14 on the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are Monday - Friday 7:30am-4:00pm, but needs of hospital may require some variance to this schedule. This position is located within our Central Ohio Behavior Healthcare Campus at 2200 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223.

You also need to know:
Must be able to complete a 4 week (business days Monday-Friday) full time orientation
May work weekends and holidays; may be exposed to communicable diseases and unpredictable patient behavior
Training and development required to remain in the classification after employment
Biennial renewal of licensure as registered nurse required
Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code; 12 mos. exp. in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in counseling; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations.
