Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and dependable General Laborer (Shop Hand) to join our team. This role supports multiple departments within our metal fabrication shop including grinding, hardware insertion, and breakout operations. The ideal candidate is physically capable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment. Training will be provided for specialized equipment.
Role includes the following rotations:
Grinding & Finishing: Perform grinding, deburring, and surface preparation on metal parts using hand tools and grinders.
Hardware Insertion: Install various hardware components (e.g., PEM inserts, fasteners) into sheet metal parts using equipment such as Haeger presses. Read blueprints and follow specifications to ensure correct placement and fit.
Breakout Operations: Remove laser-cut or stamped parts from sheet metal skeletons, clean edges, and prep parts for next-stage production (e.g., bending, welding).
Lift and move heavy metal sheets, components, and equipment (up to 75 lbs).
Load and unload raw materials, supplies, and completed products.
Maintain shop cleanliness and assist in organizing workstations.
Assist welders, machinists, and press brake operators as needed.
Follow safety protocols and wear proper PPE at all times.
Support other general shop functions as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Prior experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment preferred
Familiarity with grinders, hand tools, or hardware insertion machines a plus
Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical documents a plus
Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented production environment
Physically able to lift, carry, and move materials throughout the shift
Strong attention to detail and quality
Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn multiple tasks
Compensation & Benefits:
Pay: $17–$20/hr, depending on experience
