U. S. Steel has an immediate opening for a Team Manager in the Process Control Division, located at Granite City Works (Granite City, IL. – Greater St. Louis area). As the leader of this highly skilled, innovative team, you will play a significant role in supporting our digital transformation and system modernization strategy while providing critical services to our production operations. The successful candidate will lead and manage a team responsible for the design, development, testing and implementation of digital solutions and process control systems.

Responsibilities:
Safety - Responsible and accountable for individual safety, overall safety for the team, and ensuring that vendors follow proper safety protocols
High Performing Team - Responsible and accountable for optimizing and sustaining a high level of team performance
Leadership - Expected to be a proactive leader, identifying and taking ownership of opportunities to improve the performance of his/her team while acting as a steward of the company
Quality - Responsible and accountable for the team’s actions in support of the Plant Quality Program
Budget - Responsible and accountable for forecasting spending requirements to develop budgets, monitoring spending, and implementing cost savings measures
Innovation - Contribute to and support our digital transformation by creating a culture of innovation and exploration. Utilize new technology to make a meaningful impact on our key department metrics (Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost)
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
Minimum of 2 years of experience managing a technical team in the Software Development, Engineering, Industrial Manufacturing or related fields
Experience providing teams with direction in day-to-day and strategic priorities while managing customers in an agile or waterfall environment
Experience developing talent, managing projects, setting goals, creating timelines, tracking progress and delivering results
Experience creating and managing budgets, purchase orders and invoices
Experience in an industrial manufacturing setting a plus
Passionate about fostering a high-performance culture, leading by example, and inspiring the team to accomplish extraordinary results
Promote engagement, commitment, empowerment and a sense of ownership at all levels
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external partners
Candidate must have a high-level understanding of the following:
Java, C, C#, C++, R, and/or Python
Visual Studio
Linux and/or Windows
PLC Programming, SCADA systems, HMI design
Industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP)
Base salary range $150,000 - $165,000. This base salary range is a good faith estimate. Based on candidate skills/experience the final offer may be lower/higher.
