JOB SUMMARY:
Works in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer to oversee the financial aspects of the University to ensure accuracy, efficiency and compliance in the safeguarding of the assets of the University, to properly record and classify all financial transactions, and to carry out the mission of the University as it relates to the areas of accounting and finance (AR, AP, payroll, internal controls, etc.) investment/asset management, banking, business relationships, and other areas as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
Oversight and management of assigned personnel
Oversight and management of General Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cash management, Internal Controls, External Audits and other related financial responsibilities as assigned.
Oversight and management of Donor contributions and receipts whether in cash or other assets ensuring the proper assignment, procedures and accounting to ensure proper handling.
Oversight and management of University Budgets including systems, development of new processes and training.
Oversight and management of the annual audit report and development of financial statements
Internal reporting for departments - primarily around revenue and expense reporting.
Reconciliation of ledger accounts, payments, contracts, and other similar structures
Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual "closing" processes.
Understand and work through fund accounting processes utilized for internal reporting
Oversee the integrity of all accounting entries and reporting requirements for the University
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships
Ability to work independently
Ability to operate office equipment
Ability to provide quality customer service

Required Qualifications:

B.S. or B.A. Degree in Accounting
Active CPA issued in the U.S. is required for minimum 10 years
GAAP and FASB knowledge and understanding
Minimum of five (5) years of related work experience
Advanced knowledge and utilization of Microsoft Excel
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize multiple demands in fast-paced work environment
Typing and spelling competency
Experience with various computer software applications
Supervision Received:
Receives supervision and work assignments from a designated supervisor, although other staff members in the unit may provide work direction.
Supervision Exercised:
May be responsible for the coordination of work assignments for student employees.
