About the job:
We are looking for an Associate for our Materials Technology team that would be committed to our clients, taking the time to understand the problem and targeting the solution to address it. This individual would work in a collaborative environment and would serve as an essential role in projects, evaluations, and monitoring of contractor work for adherence to CTLGroup’s Quality Management System.
This role will report to the Director of Materials and can be located in Chicago, Florida, or Texas.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform data reductions, calculations, standard testing and makes timely and sound judgments during the basic analysis of data while independently investigates unusual results;
Perform assigned project tasks within specified timelines, seeks guidance and when working with complex issues and keeps appropriate party informed of progress;
Assist with the development of reports and proposals related to project work;
Perform evaluations, surveys, and investigations in the field or lab and take appropriate notes, samples and/or photos;
Monitor contractor work for adherence to CTLGroup’s Quality Management System, answering contractor questions and keeping client informed of progress;
Effectively communicate with clients to attain information, respond to requests and inquiries and report status of work;
Coordinate with and assign work to support personnel;
Research vendors and place orders with manager’s approval for needed equipment and materials;
Proactively identify areas of learning and participate in professional development activities in order to maintain and enhance work knowledge and skills;
Demonstrate awareness of employee safety by performing duties in accordance to company and OSHA guidelines;
Maintains high ethical standards by using sound judgment that benefits both CTLGroup and its customers;
Qualifications & Skills
Completion of a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in materials engineering and/or construction materials;
0-3 years of relevant experience;
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience in construction inspection, materials testing, laboratory work, or related field;
Advanced Degree preferred;
Familiarity with standards and regulations (AASHTO, ASTM, ACI, AISC, etc…).
Physical and Travel Demands:
Required to sit and use computer for prolonged periods of time;
Some work may be performed in confined spaces and at heights in excess of six feet;
Some work is performed in a laboratory environment or in the field where the following conditions may apply: exposure to chemicals, noise, dust, variations in temperature and humidity, fumes and various types of equipment listed above;
Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) whenever necessary
May require working additional hours;
Up to 30% travel may be required.
