1st Shift Packaging Operator

American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of both consumer and industrial products that are sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home-heating markets. AWF is comprised of 450+ employees and holds operations at 11 locations, generating over $100M in annual sales revenue. We are currently seeking a candidate for the 1st Shift Packaging Operator role in our Pella, IA facility.

JOB SUMMARY

The Packaging Operator is responsible for working in a safe, efficient manner to maximize production and shipping of products and raw material.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

PRODUCTION

Operate a machine with good hand-eye coordination at a fast pace to make rate

Sweep and shovel excess material around the packaging equipment and warehouse during the end of the shift clean up

Perform outside duties, including sweeping and picking up debris

SAFETY

Exercise caution in the production area due to mobile equipment moving the finished product out of the production area

Attend monthly safety meetings

Attend safety trainings as needed and complete required testing with sufficient results

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

The ability to lift 25-50 pounds regularly

The ability to respond quickly to sounds

The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces

The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations

The ability to work in extreme weather

The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly

EXPERIENCE

Industrial Machine Operating: 1 Year (Preferred)

Starting: $16.25 per hour
