Overview:
Weâ re looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to maintain and support a distributed environment of over 300 Windows-based systems, including servers and appliances. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and critical to the reliability and security of enterprise infrastructure. You'll be expected to lead or support key projects, contribute to infrastructure planning, and maintain high availability across geographically dispersed systems.
Key Responsibilities:
•Administer and support 300+ Windows systems, including servers and specialized appliances, in a high-availability enterprise environment.
•Configure servers according to industry and organizational best practices;ensure effective asset tracking and lifecycle management.
•Collaborate with infrastructure and network engineering teams to forecast capacity needs and support timely project delivery.
•Create and maintain system documentation including configuration records, application architecture, process flows, and service logs.
•Manage both new deployments and upgrades of server hardware and software;ensure minimal downtime and effective change control.
•Monitor operating system and application performance, produce monthly reports, and implement remediation plans where needed.
•Provide technical guidance and recommendations to improve system stability, security, and scalability.
•Lead or support implementation and support of mission-critical business applications.
•Develop and maintain scripts to improve system functionality and automate recurring tasks.
•Interface with Unix/Linux and networking teams to ensure complete and timely service delivery.
•Support SAN and NAS infrastructure, perform system checks, and contribute to 24/7 system availability.
•Participate in a rotating on-call schedule and be available for work outside standard business hours as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
•Bachelorâ s degree in Computer Science or related field, with 4-5+ years of experience in enterprise-level Windows server administration.
•Microsoft certifications and storage-related credentials are highly desirable.
•Strong working knowledge of Windows Server in a multi-domain, multi-forest environment.
•Proven experience with DNS, DHCP, WINS, Group Policy, and site management in multi-VLAN networks.
•Solid IIS administration and troubleshooting skills.
•Familiarity with IT security practices;able to assess and mitigate security vulnerabilities on Windows servers.
•Experience with VMware ESX/ESXi in SAN-based environments.
•Skilled in maintaining HP Rackmount (DL) and Blade (BL) class servers.
•Working knowledge of SAN and NAS storage technologies.
•Comfortable with scripting languages for automation (e.G., PowerShell, Bash).
•Understanding of or experience with UNIX, Linux, Apache, and Tomcat is a plus.
•Experience with Office 365, email archiving, spam/content filtering, and antivirus tools is an advantage.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills, customer-focused mindset, and the ability to prioritize in a high-pressure environment.
•Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a collaborative team structure.
