Experienced Network Engineer Specialist
The Jewish Education Center of Cleveland (JEC)’s Shared Services Organization (SSO) supports and implements all aspects of technology, including cloud, virtualization, and security. For more than 20 years, the SSO team has been dedicated to giving our local agencies, across 13 sites, the highest level of customer service experience and exceptional support. We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer Specialist to join our dedicated team.
The experienced Network Engineer Specialist will be one of the integral members of the SSO team. In addition, the specialist should be able to assist in supporting the SSO surveillance security systems.
The Network Engineer specialist should be ready to learn and grow as needed to meet the changing demands of all aspects of IT and security surveillance.
Network Engineer duties and responsibilities:
Maintaining computer networks including MS Active Directory, VPNs, routers, wi-fi and other physical hardware
Installing and configuring network equipment
Maintain firewalls and software-based malware/virus protection, manage data security
Monitoring computer systems to improve network performance for all systems
Troubleshooting, resolving, and communicating networking issues to other employees and management
Implementing disaster recovery procedures
Maintaining current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems
Network Engineer skills and qualifications
• Comprehensive understanding of TCP/IP networks, knowledge of ipv4 and ipv6 protocols
• In-depth understanding and experience working with layer 2 – 4 network switches, firewalls, routers
• Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently
• Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot Wi-Fi and security infrastructure
• Time management
• Ability to manage several projects simultaneously from design to implementation
• Ability to communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to coworkers in other departments who may not have knowledge of networking technical terminology
• Professional demeanor, appearance and punctuality.

• Awareness and sensitivity for Jewish traditions and culture; ability to adapt to a variety of Jewish communal settings.
In Addition:
* SSO surveillance security systems maintenance
· Routine VMS (Video Management System) upgrades,
· camera firmware updates,
· monitoring and back-up,
· optimization of all camera streaming
· keeping up to date documentation
* maintaining on-going communication with the SSO agencies and our (JFC) dispatch center, while also keeping up to date documentation.
Network Engineer education and training requirements
Network Engineers should have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field. Depending on the organization’s specific network configurations, Network Engineers may also be required to obtain additional certifications. Some certifications that may be valuable to Network Engineers include Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). A master’s degree isn’t required, but having an advanced degree may help increase a candidate’s employability.
Network Engineer experience requirements
Prefer at least 5 to 10 years of related work experience for a Network Engineer with a bachelor’s degree.
Important:
This position may require occasional travel to client sites for installations, maintenance, or troubleshooting. Flexibility in work hours may be necessary to accommodate project deadlines or emergencies.
